Another year

It has been a year since I moved to Tokyo from London. It has taken quite a bit of time for me to adapt to the new environment, although I have visited Tokyo a few times in the past. Living in a place is always very different from travelling to a place. It has been a great year. Another year.

Although keep following news in my hometown Hong Kong, I’m gradually paying more attention to current affairs here in Japan. So much to learn as expected. Started learning Japanese. It’s such a difficult language. Lots of stuff to memorise. Learning the language little by little. Like what I heard from some fellow Hongkongers, the sound of some Japanese words is quite similar to Cantonese. The grammar and vocabulary are difficult though. Accepting this challenge as I want to communicate with Japanese people in their own language, while still trying to get to know some expatriate friends here. Some of them speak pretty good Japanese but somehow they still enjoy (I’m sure everyone enjoys speaking in their native language) speaking in English to other expatriates like me.

Another year. Hope that I will be able to speak some decent Japanese next year. Looking forward to another wonderful year.
